Women’s Tennis Falls to Conference Rival Penn State Behrend

FROSTBURG, MD - The Frostburg State women’s tennis team is still looking to fix its problems with after a 7-2 loss to Penn State Saturday. The Bobcats dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the AMCC.

With the loss of Lisa Killen, number two singles and number one doubles, as she has left the team for personal reasons, the questions have become even harder to answer.

The only thing going as planned for the Bobcats is the play of junior Kirsten Getz (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) as she defeated Lennys Redondo 6-3, 6-1 to win her 14th straight AMCC match moving her all-time record in conference play to 14-0.

The Bobcats other win came from number six singles junior Rachel Sooy (Arundel/Crofton, Md.) as she defeated Zoe Rose 6-1, 6-3 for her first career win in AMCC play and overall.

The rest of the Bobcat team has struggled as they look to find their positions and learn to play with each other in the doubles game. The loss of Killen causes all the doubles teams to be rearranged. The Bobcats doubles teams have yet to win a match all season.

The Bobcats look to get something going as they will host another conference match-up this Wednesday October 2, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. as they will host Penn State Altoona.
