Women's Tennis Loses Close Match to Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. — Frostburg State women’s tennis lost a close match, 5-4, to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Altoona, Friday.

FSU (3-5) won three singles events and one doubles match.

In No. 2 doubles, junior Jenn Tolbert (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and freshman Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) won, 8-5, over Liz Cleary and Jenna Francis.

Individually, Tolbert and Shedd won No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Tolbert downed Cleary by the scores of 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 and Shedd was victorious over Francis, 6-4, 6-3.

Junior Heather Potosnak (Easton, Md./Montville Township (NJ)) had a good outing in No. 1 singles, winning 6-3, 6-3 over Pia Capra.

Frostburg State returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Chatham at Noon.
