Women's Tennis Loses to Chatham

FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State lost to AMCC opponent Chatham on Saturday, 6-3.

The number one doubles pairing of senior Kirsten Getz (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) and senior Christina Bleivik (Bartlett/Anchorage, Alaska) notched their fifth win of the season, defeating Sarah Miller and Sarah Rosso, 9-7.

At second doubles, senior Aimee Mendoza (Great Mills/Lexington Park, Md.) and junior Kierstin Elia (Patuxent/Lusby, Md.) dropped their match to Kristin Willard and Sarah Steward, 8-5.

At third doubles, junior Susan Adkins (Archbishop Spaulding/Severn, Md.) and sophomore Sandy Nagabhushan (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) fell to Jamie Baker and Reina Umeki, 8-2.

At number one singles, Getz defeated Miller, 6-1,6-2, while Bleivik played another long three-set match, losing 6-4,5-7,7-6(6) to Willard.

Mendoza dropped her match at the third spot, losing to Sarah Rosso 7-5,6-1, while Elia dropped her contest at fourth singles to Sarah Steward 6-2,6-2.

At fifth singles, Nagabhushan picked-up a win, besting Jamie Baker, 6-4,6-4.

Senior Dawn Zimmerman (Frederick/Linganore, Md.) dropped her match at the sixth spot, 6-0,6-0.

The Bobcats (3-6) (1-2 AMCC) return to action tomorrow when they travel to play in the Shenandoah Invitational at 9:00 a.m.
