Women's Tennis Upends Pitt-Greensburg

RAWLINGS, MD — The Frostburg State University women’s tennis team swept both doubles matches and claimed four singles flights in straight sets to down visiting Pitt-Greensburg, 6-1, Tuesday afternoon at the Rawling Heights Racquet Club.

The Bobcats (4-4, 2-2 AMCC) built a 2-0 lead after doubles play.

Seniors Christina Miserandino (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Becky Allnutt (Frederick, Md./Catoctin) paired for an 8-6 win over Kristy Scholl and Angela Christy at No. 1 doubles before freshmen Kirsten Getz (Frostburg, Md./Beall) and Kim Reidler (Frostburg, Md./Beall) teamed up to defeat Lori Johnston and Andrea Cuda, 8-6, at the second doubles flight.

Frostburg State dominated singles play, led by Getz's 6-0, 6-1 win over Christy at the second spot. Getz improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in AMCC action this year.

Allnutt followed with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) defeat of Cuda at the third flight, and Reidler swept Scholl, 6-4, 6-3, at the fourth position.

Senior Kathy Arnold (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) turned in a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Jessie Hilliard at the fifth flight.

Pitt-Greensburg (1-7, 1-3) picked up its lone win at the No. 1 singles spot, as Johnston defeated Miserandino, 6-4, 6-1.

Frostburg State will host AMCC rival Penn State Behrend on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. looking to avenge a 4-3 loss to the Lions earlier this month.
