Women's Tennis Wins Battle of Bobcats with UPG, 7-0

Greensburg, Pa. ... The Frostburg State University women’s tennis team downed Pitt-Greensburg, 7-0, in its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Christina Miserandino and Becky Allnutt teamed for an 8-6 win over Kristy Scholl and Angela Christy at No. 1 singles, and freshmen Kirsten Getz and Kim Reidler paired up for an 8-4 victory at the second doubles flight as Frostburg State opened a 2-0 lead.

In singles play, Miserandino turned in a 6-2, 6-1 win over Christy at the top flight, and Getz followed with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the second spot.

Senior Becky Allnutt had little trouble in a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Andrea Cuda at the No. 3 flight, while Reidler outlasted Scholl, 7-5 in the first set before posting a 6-0 win in the second for the sweep at the fourth position.

Senior Kathy Arnold then bested Jessie Hilliard, 6-4, 6-4, at the fifth spot to seal the shutout.

The Bobcats (2-0, 1-0 AMCC) will return to action at the Penn State Behrend Tournament on Saturday, September 15.
