Works of Shawn and Shane Spiker to be Featured at FSU’s Roper Gallery

The artwork of local brothers Shawn and Shane Spiker, students at Frostburg State University, will be featured at the Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery in the Fine Arts Building at Frostburg State University from April 6 to April 10.

An opening reception for their show, “Disposable Art,” will be held Saturday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Gallery, and is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Sunday through Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m.

The Spiker brothers, both graduates of Northern High School in Garrett County, began their college careers with different ambitions and only recently decided to change their majors to art and design. “Disposable Art,” which includes both graphic design and fine art media, presents the artists’ artwork as a fully interactive, artistic commentary. The show fulfills the Visual Arts Department’s senior thesis requirement for both of the Spikers, who will soon graduate from FSU.
