Parents

Welcome to the Frostburg State University family!

Keeping in touch with your student and supporting them throughout their college career can be a huge help in making sure they find success. You’ll find useful resources here to help guide your student through this important step in their life.

FERPA and your student's grades

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is designed to keep students’ academic records confidential while allowing them access. FERPA doesn’t allow a parent to view their child’s information, including grades, unless the child gives express permission each year. Learn more about FERPA here, or view instructions for your student to fill out a Release of Information here.

Parent Handbook

The first year of college can be almost as daunting for the parent as the student! To help you navigate this big change in your child’s life, we’ve put together a Parent Handbook with information on forms, dates, policies and resources for both your student and you.

Student Success & Safety

Your student will have access to a broad support system during their studies at Frostburg. FSU’s academic support systems are loaded with opportunities to improve in challenging classes, excel in academics, flourish in an internship and jump-start a career. For your student’s safety, our campus is equipped with security features such as emergency communication kiosks, locked residence halls and trained Public Safety officers monitoring campus around the clock. Our Counseling Services and Brady Health Center staff are always there for students who need them.

You can rest assured that your student’s college home is a safe and supportive one.
