Orientation for First-Year Students
Welcome to our newest Bobcats! Your journey begins by participating in four phases of our orientation experience for first-year students.
PHASE 1: Placement testing and pre-advising modules
This phase involves placement testing and the completion pre-advising modules through our FSU Canvas site. Once you have paid your deposit, you will receive an email invitation from the Programs Advancing Student Success (PASS) to participate in online placement testing and complete the pre-advising modules.
PHASE 2: ONLINE INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE
Once you have completed placement testing and the pre-advising modules, please log-on to the Frostburg Online Orientation experience and begin your journey with us. In this interactive platform, you will learn about exciting experiences that await you at Frostburg and help build your confidence during your transition to college.
PHASE 3: attend a Bobcats orientation welcome session
Once you have completed Phase 1 and 2 above, you will receive an invitation to choose an in-person orientation session in April or May. In that invitation, you will have the option to choose from the following Saturday dates that occur from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The link to register will be included in your invitation email.

If you are unable to attend any of these sessions, you will have the opportunity to come to campus to be advised and schedule classes over the summer. More details will be provided to you in the future.
PHASE 4: Connecting at fsu
The final phase begins in the fall when you join us for various "welcome to campus" activities and begin your Introduction to Higher Education (ORIE 101) one-credit course that will immerse you into our University culture.
We are so glad you chose Frostburg State University. As our communities emerge from these difficult conditions, we look forward to your graduation as a Bobcat in four years. This just may be the best time of your life and we look forward to being a part of it. See you soon!
