ORIENTATION FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS

new students and parents attend opening session

Welcome to our newest Bobcats! Your journey begins by participating in three phases of our orientation experience for first-year students.

Phase 1: Online Interactive Experience

Once you have paid your deposit and received your FSU username and password, please log-on to the Frostburg Online Orientation experience and begin your journey with us. In this interactive platform, you will learn about exciting experiences that await you at Frostburg and help build your confidence during your transition to college.

Phase 2: Advising and Registration

This phase involves placement testing and academic advising. You will receive an email invitation from the Center for Academic Advising & Retention (CAAR) to participate in online placement testing through our FSU Canvas site.

Once placement testing is complete, you will be paired with an advisor who will help you register for courses either by phone or virtual consultation.

Phase 3: Welcome to Campus

The final phase begins in the fall when you join us for various "welcome to campus" activities and begin your Introduction to Higher Education (ORIE 101) one-credit course that will immerse you into our University culture.

We are so glad you chose Frostburg State University. As our communities emerge from these difficult conditions, we look forward to your graduation as a Bobcat in four years. This just may be the best time of your life and we look forward to being a part of it. See you soon!
