Resident Assistant Recruitment and Selection

Resident Assistants (RAs) are paraprofessional staff members for the Residence Life Office and Edgewood Commons. RAs work to build residential communities that support student growth and success. RA roles and responsibilities include assisting and advising residents, mediating roommate conflicts, planning and implementing programs and activities, responding to emergencies, enforcing policies, and assisting with the administrative functions of their assigned community.  As a student, the Resident Assistant lives and works with a group of residents on an assigned floor of a residence hall.   


To apply for a Resident Assistant position for the 2023-2024 academic year, you will need to complete the application in the following link by Sunday, February 5 at 11:59PM. To be considered for the position you must do the following:

  • Complete the application, cover letter, and resume.
  • Have two references complete the recommendation form. One reference should be an RLO/Edgewood Commons staff member. Exceptions will be made for students who have not lived on campus before.
  • RAs must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and at least a 2.3 GPA for the previous semester (1st semester students will be considered, with grades pending). Preference will be given to students who have lived on campus for at least one semester, though all are welcome to apply.
  • Candidates will participate in interviews by phone, in person, or via Microsoft Teams.

RA Recommendation


If you are currently an RA, to reapply for the position for the 2023-2024 year, you will need to complete the application in the following link by Sunday, February 5th at 11:59PM. To be considered for the position you must do the following:

  • Complete the application and portfolio
  • Receive a satisfactory evaluation from your current supervisor
  • Meet academic and conduct standards
