Dr. Gerard R. DiBartolo '75/M'78
After 44 years of dedicated service to Salisbury University, Dr. Gerry DiBartolo ’75/M’78 retired as the director of Athletics and Campus Recreation on June 30. He was a coach, teacher, faculty member and an academic and athletic administrator.
During his tenure, Salsibury athletics won four team national championships, 10 individual national championships and 31 team conference championships. DiBartolo also oversaw the completion and expansion of the East Campus Athletic Complex, and he spearheaded renovations to the University’s fitness center and physical activities center.
“As I think about my years at Frostburg, I appreciate my professors, coaches, teammates, friends and mentors who instilled a love of education and athletics that were important factors in achieving success during my years at Salisbury as an educator, coach and administrator,” said DiBartolo. “My time at Frostburg was challenging, yet rewarding and fulfilling. I think back on those years with fond memories and know that it was the correct choice for me.”
DiBartolo continued, “Whether it was the weather (blizzards and cold), difficult training and playing conditions on the soccer field, socializing with friends or the hours spent researching and writing papers, the overall experience was both enjoyable and impactful. I am deeply indebted to FSU for providing the foundation for my satisfying career at Salisbury University. Thank you Frostburg State!”
