No University Succeeds Alone
Shadow JQ Robinson, PhD, became Frostburg State University's 16th president on July 1, 2026. As the University looks ahead, he sees the next strategic plan as more than a roadmap for priorities. It's an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners to define what makes Frostburg distinctive and shape where the University will be five years from now.
Dear Profile Readers,
As I continue getting to know the Frostburg State University community, I am reminded again and again that the story of your university is really a collection of stories about opportunity, discovery, friendship, achievement and, above all, people.
This issue of Profile offers a wonderful glimpse into some of those stories.
Within this edition, you will meet members of our university community who are making a difference inside and outside the classroom, on campus, in their professions and throughout the communities they call home. You will see the many ways our students are learning and growing, our faculty and staff are advancing the mission of your university and our alumni are carrying the Frostburg experience with them wherever life takes them.
You will also find stories that reflect where Frostburg State has been and where we are headed. Our history gives us a strong foundation, but our future will be shaped by the questions we are willing to ask, the opportunities we are willing to pursue and the ways we continue to respond to the changing needs of our students and our region.
One thing that has become especially clear to me since arriving in Mountain Maryland is that Frostburg State University's impact extends far beyond our campus. It lives in the careers and communities of our graduates. It lives in the relationships formed here. It lives in the faculty and staff members who dedicate themselves to helping students succeed. And it lives in the generosity of alumni and friends who continue to believe in what Frostburg can make possible.
I hope you enjoy the stories in this issue and take a moment to reflect on your own Frostburg story. Whether you graduated last year, many decades ago or are just a loyal friend and supporter of FSU, you remain an important part of our university community.
And as we look toward the future, I hope you will continue to be part of the journey. Your support, whether through mentorship, sharing your expertise, attending an event, staying connected with fellow Bobcats or making a financial contribution, helps create opportunities for today's students and strengthens your Frostburg State University for generations to come.
There is much to be excited about at Frostburg State, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to help write the next chapter alongside our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends.
