Bobcats Make History on Record-Breaking #BobcatGivingDay
The Bobcat community once again proved that when Frostburg State University calls, its supporters answer.
This year's #BobcatGivingDay was the most successful in the University's history, with alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends contributing $204,657 during the 24-hour campaign. A total of 2,115 donors from 42 states came together to support the people and programs that make Frostburg special, demonstrating that Bobcat pride reaches far beyond campus.
The University's Annual Fund received more than $4,071, while donors supported 248 funds across campus, including scholarships, academic departments, athletics, student organizations and special initiatives. In all, 248 scholarships benefited from the generosity of #BobcatGivingDay supporters, creating opportunities that will have a lasting impact on current and future Bobcats.
The fundraising campaign reflected broad participation across the University community. Alumni accounted for 148 donors, while 119 faculty and staff members also made gifts, underscoring the shared commitment to ensuring students have the resources they need to succeed.
One of the day's biggest celebrations came from Bobcat Athletics, where the swimming program captured the grand prize by rallying 233 donors. The achievement earned the program an additional $5,000 to further support its student-athletes.
Competition remained spirited throughout the day as supporters rallied behind their favorite causes. Four funds emerged as category leaders, each earning an additional $2,000 for attracting the most donors within their respective categories: the FSU Chapter of the American Marketing Association, the Children's Literature Outreach and Staffing Fund (CLC), the Frostburg State Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society and the Annual Fund.
Several special challenges added excitement while inspiring even greater participation. The Camp Snyder Fund claimed the "Who's in the Lead?" Challenge, securing an additional $3,000 in support. Athletics Football earned the Mega Match HERO Award and an extra $1,000, while the Delta Sigma Pi, Omicron Chi Chapter Development Fund captured Super Bob's Power Hour Challenge, also receiving an additional $1,000.
While the friendly competition energized participants throughout the day, the true measure of the success of #BobcatGivingDay was the collective impact of every gift, regardless of size.
"What stands out every #BobcatGivingDay isn't who finishes first. Rather it's seeing alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends and supporters come together because they care enough to give back to FSU," said the University's annual giving and donor relations specialist Stephanie Loar '12. "FSU means so much to so many people and plays a very important role in our community."
