zita lefevre

Zita McShane LeFevre passed away in January 2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Budapest, Hungary, LeFevre didn’t have the easiest life, living her earliest years through World War II. Her family escaped communist Hungary, coming to America in the early 1950s. LeFevre worked hard to lose her accent and studied even harder. She became a chemist at Ursuline University, earned her master’s degree from Cleveland State University and her doctorate in English from Case Western Reserve University. LeFevre went on to teach hundreds of students English and technical writing, finally retiring as a full professor at Frostburg State University. In lieu of flowers at her memorial, LeFevre requested donations to be made in her name to Doctors Without Borders, the FSU English Department or the American Library Association. She is survived by her daughters Laura, Kathleen, Maureen and Tess and two grandsons, Jonah and Owen.
