Room Dedicated in Memory of Ralph Brewer
The Brewer family has deep and enduring roots at Frostburg State University—beginning with Ralph and Sue, continuing with their son John '90 and his wife Karen '92, and extending to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom were present for the room dedication.
Ralph Brewer served on the FSU faculty from 1969–2000 and 2006–2020 and was athletic director from 2000–2006. Most recently, he was honored with an induction into the Bobcat Hall of Fame.
During his tenure as athletic director, Ralph improved academic retention for student-athletes by more than 10%, oversaw the construction of four athletic fields—including a turf stadium field and a rebuilt baseball infield—added coed golf as a varsity sport, and led multiple teams to NCAA tournament bids in men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball and baseball.
It is only fitting that family and friends came together to name this space in his honor—a space dedicated to supporting the very student-athletes whose lives Ralph shaped and inspired throughout his remarkable career.🐾
