Richardson to Lead Temple Team, Honored by Daily Record

Diane Carter Richardson ’80 was named the 21st head women’s basketball coach of Temple University. In addition, she was honored by the Maryland Daily Record to its 2022 Top 100 Women list.

Richardson, who led Towson to two postseason appearances in her five years at the helm, more than in the program’s previous 49 seasons of existence, holds an 80-66 overall head coaching record. This past season, she led Towson to a school record 24 wins and only its second berth in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

The Daily Record list, selected by a panel of leaders and past honorees, recognizes honorees’ outstanding professional accomplishments, community leadership and mentoring. Richardson has been successful on the collegiate athletic arena and in the business world. She blends her CEO background into her coaching style, empowering leadership throughout the program.

“To be in a group of so many powerful and unique women is a blessing,” Richardson said.
