FOUNDATION NEWS
From the FSUF Board Chair
Frostburg is a Busy Place

If you found yourself on the Frostburg State University Campus this summer, you undoubtedly noticed a lot of activity. All summer long our alma mater hosts a variety of programs that provide opportunities for students from all over the region to pursue sports, academics and the arts. There are new campers visiting the area on a weekly basis who have the chance to experience FSU. In mid-June, the University hosted the 2024 Frostburg State University STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Summit, and students from counties in Maryland and Pennsylvania were engaged in STEM instruction and problem-solving. These students conducted experiments, took field trips and heard from a stellar lineup of speakers. This program relies, in part, on funding from the FSU Foundation and is a great example of how donations to the Foundation can serve the Western Maryland community.
In August, the campus will welcome the Class of 2028, and they will be greeted by a big change on campus. The new Education and Health Sciences Center, which was dedicated by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore in the spring, will be fully operational. This state-of-the-art building houses the FSU College of Education and Health & Natural Sciences, along with the disciplines of Kinesiology, Education, Nursing and the Health Sciences. The building is also the new home of the Student Health Center, the Student Counseling Center and the Children's Literature Centre.
We are now nearly two and a half years into the public phase of our Forging Futures: The Campaign for Frostburg State University, whose purpose is to raise funds to provide resources and opportunities for our students. This includes endowing and further funding scholarships, developing meaningful student activities and creating opportunities in athletics and the arts. The generosity of alumni, faculty and staff, parents and members of the community has been instrumental in the success of this effort. As I mentioned in the spring, the campaign surpassed its initial fundraising goal significantly ahead of our end-of-year target. The Board has decided to continue the campaign to allow additional funds to be raised for students, the University and the region.
The Foundation’s fiscal year extended through the end of June, and I am happy to report that your unprecedented support resulted in a record setting year with the Foundation raising over $5.3 million. To put that in perspective - it is the first time that the Foundation has exceeded the $5 million mark. Thank you all for your continued support.
This fundraising has an immediate impact - over $1.22 million in scholarship funds have been distributed to deserving students in the last 12 months. Thank you for your continued support.
We will continue to update the community on our success and opportunities in Profile, and you can also learn more HERE.
Finally, Homecoming & Family Weekend will be October 17-20 and will be packed with activities. Please make your plans early. With alumni, students, friends and families all descending on Frostburg for a celebratory weekend, it will be a great opportunity to visit and connect (or reconnect!) with the Bobcativerse! I look forward to seeing everyone in October.
If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to reach out. Go Bobcats!
Thank you,
