FORGING FUTURES

3 Reasons to Give to Frostburg Through Your IRA

Dr. Fell and Monica Keller ’16, a past recipient of the Fell Social Studies Educator ScholarshipSUPPORT

“We support the FSU Foundation through a one-time annual Qualified Charitable Distribution from our IRA accounts because it makes that portion of our required minimum distributions a non-taxable withdrawal and because it saves the Foundation processing time and potential charges from monthly contributions on a credit card.”

BENEFITS

“Making QCDs to the University retains the tax-deductible benefit of our contributions while making filing our federal tax returns much simpler.”

EASE

“It is so easy to do this. In the spring after we have identified the amount of our required IRA withdrawals, we call the FSU Foundation and tell them to expect a check from our IRA and tell them how to apportion our contribution among the various scholarships and programs we support. Then we call our local financial advisor and request them to authorize a QCD to the FSU Foundation. It’s just that simple, and we are finished until the next year.”
