Moving Frostburg Forward Together

Pat. Friel, Board Chair

As we embark on another year of growth, reflection and shared achievement, I am honored to address you as the president of the Frostburg State University Foundation. Our community has always been defined by its strength, resilience and deep commitment to the success of our students and the institution. This year will be no exception as we face challenges and look to take advantage of opportunities together.

I am incredibly proud to announce that after just three years into the public phase of our Forging Futures: The Campaign for Frostburg State University we have seen unprecedented success with our campaign generating nearly $32 million. This initiative was launched with the vision of providing resources to support the bold ambition of this important institution, and thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our alumni, donors and friends, we have surpassed expectations. Your unwavering support has funded scholarships, enhanced academic programs and provided the resources needed to propel Frostburg State University forward. Every dollar raised is an investment in our students and their futures, and I thank each of you for your belief in our mission.

As we celebrate this milestone, we look ahead to an exciting year for the Frostburg State community. One of the highlights will undoubtedly be Homecoming & Family Weekend, scheduled for Oct. 2-5, where we anticipate a remarkable turnout of alumni and friends returning to reconnect, reminisce and celebrate the institution that shaped their lives and the lives of current students. I encourage all alumni to join us, rekindle old friendships and witness firsthand the impact of their support. It will also be a great opportunity to celebrate the remarkable progress of the Forging Futures campaign together!

I would also like to take a moment to reflect on the profound loss of a cherished leader and friend, Dr. Ronald Nowaczyk. His passing in late January, after a courageous battle with cancer, leaves a void in our community that cannot be easily filled. Dr. Nowaczyk led Frostburg State with vision, compassion and an unwavering dedication to student success. His leadership was instrumental in shaping the University’s trajectory, and his kindness touched the lives of many. As we move forward, we do so with gratitude for his legacy and a commitment to honor his work through our continued efforts. I ask that you keep Dr. Nowaczyk’s family, friends and loved ones in your thoughts.

In closing, I want to express my deepest appreciation to each of you—our alumni, faculty, staff, students and supporters—for your generosity, commitment and belief in Frostburg State University. Together, we are forging a future that is bright and full of promise. Let’s continue to build on our successes, support our students and honor the legacy of those who have made our University the remarkable institution it is today.

If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to reach out. Go Bobcats!

Thank you,
