Making a Difference for Today’s Students Is Our Focus

Last September, we launched the public phase of Forging Futures: The Campaign for Frostburg State University, a comprehensive campaign designed to forge the future of:

  • Our students, by continuing to provide a transformational educational experience to those that attend FSU
  • The University, as we continue to evolve from the school that coal miners first envisioned to prepare teachers almost 125 years ago to today and beyond as a regional comprehensive university
  • The region, as a major economic driver and cultural hub for a dynamic rural region

I am very pleased to share that we have raised more than $3 million since the launch from more than 1,600 donors, including 250 alumni who had never made a gift to FSU. Since the beginning of the campaign quiet phase, we have raised more than $18.5 million from nearly 12,000 donors, including 1,745 alumni who made their first-ever gift to FSU. I’m emphasizing these first-time alumni donors because there are other alumni who have never made a gift. I hope those alumni will want to join others to support the students of today and tomorrow, just as they were supported by alumni who came before them.

Sandy Adams, Board Chair

Remember that state support for the cost of educating students decreases nearly every year, and we can’t just continue to increase the cost of tuition, fees, room and board. Our students need scholarship support to help pay for their education. Increasing support available to students is a primary component of the campaign. Seven years ago, the FSU Foundation awarded less than $500,000 in scholarships to deserving students. We have more than $1.1 million available for the upcoming year. This is due, in part, to the support of alumni and other friends of the University.

Please consider joining the many alumni who support FSU and its students by making a gift today. Gifts of all sizes are appreciated. They all add up to making a difference for today’s students.

Thank you for your consideration.
