artie travis noesa awardDr. Artie Travis, FSU’s vice president for Student Affairs, was awarded the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award upon nomination by the D.C. Chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association and the Boy Scouts of America. This honor is granted to Eagle Scouts who distinguish themselves in their life work and who voluntarily share their talents with their communities.

Travis has distinguished himself through his career as an advocate for all students in and outside of the classroom and through continued service by following the principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. He has met community service needs through voluntary actions. Travis served as a specialist 4th class in the U.S. Army before choosing to serve students for more than 40 years.

“I believe strongly that the moments in times in my career have been about caring for the students that have impacted my life throughout my career,” said Travis.

“I truly believe that you may never know when a student may catch a dream from you. Sometimes it doesn’t matter at all, but then again you may never know – it might.”
