From the FSUF Board Chair

Thanks to You, We're Reaching Our Goals

It is truly an honor to connect with you via Profile magazine, a timeless publication that has kept us connected to Frostburg State University for many years. The format has evolved with the ability to do a print version only once per year because of budgetary considerations. Thumbing or scrolling through the electronic version of this reliable resource is also a great way to stay connected to what is happening at FSU.

In June, Sandy Wyche Adams ’86 completed her term as chair of the FSU Foundation and the Board appointed me her successor. She will be a very difficult act to follow as Sandy led many significant foundation initiatives, including the successful public launch of our capital campaign.

Pat Friel, Board Chair

In 2016, FSU began the “quiet phase” of Forging Futures: The Campaign for Frostburg State University, and in September of 2021 we launched the public phase of this campaign. The campaign’s purpose is to provide resources and opportunities for our students, which includes endowing and further funding scholarships, developing meaningful student activities and creating opportunities in athletics and the arts. We have quickly learned that Bobcats are amazingly generous. Since 2016, the campaign has surpassed more than $23 million in support. We are well on our way to accomplishing our goals related to student engagement and support, enrollment growth and alumni and community participation.

Students are already feeling the impact of your generosity. For the first time ever, more than $1 million in scholarships was awarded to current students in the 2022- 2023 academic year. Your support, along with a commitment from the administration to improve the financial aid infrastructure and the hard work of the University staff, made that happen. Scholarships provide real financial help to deserving students, who benefitted greatly from this support.

I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Sandy for her leadership and commitment over the last three years. She was a true leader during a challenging time and served FSU admirably. I also want to take an opportunity to thank our Board members whose commitments on the foundation board have ended. Thank you Chip Carr ’93, Quincy Crawford ’65, Joe George M’82, Dr. Laron Locke ’82 and Ken Oldham ’98 for your contributions and service to Frostburg State University and the FSU Foundation.

There is a lot to do over the next three years, and I look forward to working with all of you to support FSU and its students.

Go Bobcats!
