FSU VP for Student Affairs Receives Voice of Freedom Award

artie travisFSU's vice president for Student Affairs, Dr. Artie L. Travis, was among the ten community leaders honored at the Allegany County NAACP 7007 4th annual Voice of Freedom awards ceremony held on Feb. 24. This event acknowledges the actions and support of people of color in the community over the past year.

Dr. Travis received the Annual Historic Preservation Award for his work on the Negro Mountain African American historic site marker. The marker was placed on Oct. 12, 2023, and is the first state historical marker in Garrett County highlighting African American history.
