Regardless of the method used to report allegations of fraud, you may choose to remain anonymous. As noted in USM's Hotline Policy, referrals received will be reviewed by Internal Audit to determine an appropriate course of action for investigating and resolving alleged misconduct.

In accordance with University System of Maryland policy 287.0 VIII-7.10, Policy on Reporting Suspected or Known Fiscal Irregularities, "Every effort shall be made to ensure the confidentiality of any person reporting suspected financial misconduct, and every effort shall be made to ensure that retaliation of any kind will not be tolerated against any individual who, in good faith, furnishes information about known or suspected fiscal irregularities.
