  • Frostburg State University is one of U.S. News and World Report's Top Public Schools, Regional Universities North.

  • U.S. News and World Report’s 2018 online program rankings include FSU's MBA, M.Ed. – Special Education Concentration, bachelor’s (RN to BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing.

  • Our online Master of Science in Recreation & Parks Management is ranked the #2 most affordable program in the U.S. by GetEducated.com 

  • Great Value Colleges has ranked Frostburg’s online Master of Science in Nursing as the third most affordable in the country and the third top online degree for 2018. 

  • The Best Master’s Degrees, an online organization that provides rankings and profiles of degree programs in the most common master’s degree areas, ranked Frostburg’s online MBA program among the top 20 most affordable online MBAs in the nation 

  • FSU was ranked 100th in the U.S. by The Economist among all four-year non-vocational colleges and universities in terms of value added, based on U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard data.

  • CollegeValuesOnline.com, an online independent guide to selecting the best college for each individual, recently ranked Frostburg State University number 16 of the 30 top schools that offer parks, recreation and leisure studies bachelor’s degrees in the U.S. for 2016.

  • BestMasterofScienceinNursing.com recently ranked FSU among the 10 most up-and-coming nursing schools in the East.

  • Brookings Institute ranked FSU in the top-25 percent of all U.S. four-year colleges and universities in terms of value added, based on U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard data.

  • Frostburg State University was named the 2016 Public Institution of the Year by The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, America’s largest academic internship program.

Recognition of Online Programs

GetEducated.com, a consumer advocacy organization that reviews online educators, awarded "Best Buy" status to several of FSU's online programs, including the RN to BSN, MBA, MS in Recreation & Parks Management, MS in Computer Science and M.Ed. in Special Education. These programs have received recognition from other affordability indexes as well. 

FSU Recognition

FSU has been tapped as one of only 80 schools nationwide in NASPA's Lead Initiative, which helps develop civic learning and democratic engagement among its students.  Now FSU is a Lead Consulting Institution, which means FSU mentors other schools in how to build this kind of leadership in its students. 

FSU was one of more than 200 colleges and universities that signed the American Campuses Act on Climate Pledge to demonstrate their support for strong climate action as world leaders gather for the Paris Conference on Climate Change in December.

FSU is in the third year of a federal Drug-Free Communities Grant, a five-year, $625,000 award. The grant funds the Frostburg Community Coalition to address community-level concerns regarding youth substance abuse.
