What does FSU math mean for YOU?
Everyone gets to take a math class as part of their education here! Whether you fulfill your degree requirements with just one class, several semesters, or even a major or minor, you will be part of our community!
What makes US special? We want to help YOU succeed! All of our instructors use evidence-based, active learning teaching practices. We are a teaching-focused institution, which means that we specialize in the education of undergraduate students. We provide you with high-quality courses to fit your program needs, personalized advising for students majoring or minoring in math, the Learning Assistant program that employs students to work in and out of the classroom, and more! Not only do we have a degree in math, but we are part of the new interdisciplinary minor in Data Science, a 5-year Masters in Teaching for Secondary Education pathway, and (coming soon!) an interdisciplinary emphasis in Actuarial Science!
Math classes at FSU are small, usually no more than 30 students! This gives you a ton of opportunities to interact with the math, your teacher, and your peers both during and outside of class! You’ll get to know your instructor, and your instructor will know you!
In the FSU math department, team work is key! Our state-of-the-art building, the Gira Center, has physical spaces so that you can collaborate with fellow students, including a tutoring center and breakout rooms. You won't be alone on your math journey!
