Why do you love FSU?

I was welcomed from the moment that I stepped on campus. That sense of warmth, community and belonging was something that followed me throughout my collegiate experience, and I quickly became part of that one body of students. I love FSU for its proximity to the Allegheny Passage, Wisp and other outdoor activities and destinations; for its diverse student body; and for enabling me to become completely and totally my truest self.

Why do you give back (time, talent and/or treasure) to FSU?

Because FSU became my home away from home during the most critical personal and professional growth period in my life, I want FSU to offer the same opportunities to others for generations to come.

What do you do for fun?

I play with my three kids.

Tell us about a class or activity at FSU that has had a surprising effect on your life.

Roadtrip Nation! Being part of this movement played a big role in helping me define what I wanted to do (and didn’t want to do) after FSU. During Roadtrip Nation, I met people who love what they do and was given the opportunity to flat-out ask them, “How did you get to be where you are today?”

Favorite TV show/movie/music/band?

Can you believe I don’t have a favorite (or least favorite) show, movie, music or band? My favorite is to have luxury of choice!

What is your favorite memory of your time as a Frostburg student?

I have so many great memories, many of which were part of my social life at FSU. FSU exposed me to a variety of social situations (joining a club, organized sports, dining out, outdoor adventures, going to a party, etc.). All of this expanded my social circle and helped me form cross-cultural connections!

What is a cause dear to your heart?

Empathy. Is that a cause? I care deeply about wanting people to learn empathy and have better social interactions. With so much going on in our world, it’s important we all understand how others are feeling so we can respond appropriately to any given situation.

Tell us about a person or persons from FSU who had an impact on your life.

Dr. Tom Bowling. I stay in touch with him to this day. He really helped guide and motivate me while I was at FSU. Even after I left FSU, he was helpful in exploring careers, is dependable and is still tuned into my needs!

Favorite comfort food?

Chicken wings

Favorite vacation spot?

Costa Rica with my wife.

What profession (other than your own) would you like to attempt?

Disaster response.
