MAT – Elementary
Curriculum and Course Sequence

The Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary program is an 18-month program that begins in May and takes six semesters to complete including summer and intersession.  The program is designed to allow students to continue to work for the first summer, fall and intersession before entering the practicum experiences in the spring and following fall. When entering into the practicum experiences, it is difficult for students to continue to work as the practicum requires 5 days per week during school hours.  Students are required to complete 100 days of teaching practicum over two semesters and coursework is integrated with the school placement experience. Students enter the program as a cohort and progress through the course sequence together.
