Master of Education – School Counseling

The M.Ed. in School Counseling program is a 48-credit hour program that can be completed in two years full- time or four years or less on a part-time basis.  The curriculum includes a 500 hour Internship in the schools as the capstone experience.

ONE ELECTIVE MUST BE TAKEN SUMMER, INTERSESSION OR DURING FIRST THREE SEMESTERS.

The internship would require a total of 500 hours in the schools for internship in the Spring semester. The time requirement is full time/ 5 day week schedule for the 14 week semester.

A student can choose to take more than 6 credit hours per semester upon approval by program coordinator.

EDUC 603, EDUC 606, CUIN 654 and an elective must be taken summer, intersession, or during the first 5 semesters.

Internship for part time:

  1. Two semesters for 3 credits each semester. Requires 250 hours in the school which is 2-3 days a week.
  2. Three semesters for 2 credits each semester: Requires 167 hours in the school which is 1-2 days a week.

Other configurations may be possible by consultation and approval of the program coordinator.
