Assurance of Learning

for Courses of Business Departments

College of Business, Engineering, and Computational & Mathematical Sciences

The Assurance of Learning (AoL) Committee is housed within the larger College of Business, Engineering, and Computational & Mathematical Sciences (CBECMS). Focused on AACSB business disciplines, this is a particularly important committee because of its line-of-sight mission to improve student learning.

Broadly, this committee is charged with providing expert oversight over the entire assessment system as it relates to our AACSB programs. This begins with the systematic collection of student learning data. The data we capture includes both direct and indirect measures of student achievement. Once collected, this data is rigorously analyzed to look for gaps in student learning. Data is then shared with faculty where a partnership forms between this committee and select faculty to enact specific corrective actions to close the gap and improve student outcomes. One of our primary mechanisms to improve student learning is adjusting and enhancing our curriculum.

Proudly, members of this select committee set the example in building an ethos of assessment and serve as a conduit back to their respective business departments in regard to all assessment matters.
