Remote work offers flexibility, but it also exposes businesses to significant cybersecurity risks. Phishing, weak passwords, and unsecured Wi-Fi are just a few common vulnerabilities. To stay secure, teams should implement strong, unique passwords, enable two-factor authentication, use VPNs, and ensure devices are updated and encrypted. Regular backups, phishing training, and IT collaboration further strengthen defenses. Cybersecurity is a collective effort—every employee plays a vital role in safeguarding digital assets. Stay vigilant, proactive, and secure in your remote setup!

Contrary to traditional beliefs, remote work can strengthen workplace relationships, according to a study led by Beth Schinoff, assistant professor of management at the University of Delaware. Her research found that remote settings allow co-workers to share personal, unfiltered glimpses of their lives, fostering deeper connections.

From pets interrupting Zoom calls to revealing unintentional personal details, these moments humanize colleagues, enhancing collaboration. Schinoff suggests leaders embrace these dynamics by creating space for non-work discussions during virtual meetings. As hybrid work evolves, fostering relationships remotely could redefine workplace culture.

CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong sees this shift as a game-changer, enabling access to talent worldwide and redefining workplace productivity.

In an interview with Fortune, Sutherland-Wong emphasized the permanence of remote work trends, the rise of AI in recruiting, and the critical role of platforms like Glassdoor in promoting pay transparency. For Glassdoor, the future of work is borderless, inclusive, and data-driven.

Watch Out for Remote Job Scams: Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Job Offers (09/06/2024):

As more workers are seeking remote jobs, scammers are targeting those looking for remote employment. Recently, scammers have been sending out text messages and emails, promising high-paying remote jobs if you provide personal information (usually a Social Security Number). Scammers will often ask you to proceed communicating with them on WhatsApp, or to follow an external link that they have provided. Readers are advised to be cautious when engaging with unknown numbers; warning signs can include poor grammar in the job listing, offers for "unlimited earning potential," and what may seem to be absurdly high pay for a given job. Additionally, do not provide personal information through unverified channels, and verify potential job offers by contacting companies through official channels.
