Joseph Albert Hekimian was an intelligent, kind, gentle, and sensitive individual. He loved his family and his pet parrot Little Magic. He had fond memories growing up in southern California and focused on technical subjects like organic chemistry and microbiology as a student. Joseph succumbed to the disease of substance abuse addiction at age 27. The last two years of his life were characterized by great internal struggle. It only takes one relapse to end your life and to leave your family heartbroken. It takes great strength and courage to ask for and receive help. There is help available to you if you need it. You need not fight this disease alone. Joe’s family is thankful for the time that they had with their son, and they have much to be proud of. They continue to take inspiration from their memories of him, miss him dearly and look forward to their eternal reunion with him.
