COVID-19 Updates and Information

Web & Digital Services

Before a potential student visits campus, before they get their first mailing, they'll likely check out the FSU website. We are the University's front door!

Official FSU Standards & Guidelines

Our world is a digital-first world

Let's make the most of that! Web & Digital Services provides standards and guidelines to help provide guidance on the structure, design and content of University websites and digital products.

Web 101

  • Accessibility: As a state intuition that receives federal funding, FSU must adhere to to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Read more about the how and why of making your webpages ADA accessible.

    • Providing equal access to content is a basic human right as well as being required by law.
    • 1 in 5 people report having some type of disability.
    • Accessible websites often have better search results, increased reach and demonstrate the University's commitment to inclusivity.
  • General Guidelines: "Web standards" is a term for the formal specifications and recommendations for building webpages. Keep these guidelines in mind when building or maintaining your webpages.

    • Design for your users, not for yourself. A good user experience makes happy customers. Happy customers come back.
    • Maintain consistency throughout the site with FSU branding.
    • Create compelling, user-centric content. Talk about what students will do at FSU, not what FSU can do for them.
