STEM SummitFrostburg State University will host the 2025 STEM Summit on campus June 17-20. Students from Allegany, Garrett, Mineral, Bedford and Somerset Counties who will enter grades 9-11 in fall 2025 can be nominated by their school’s STEM teachers for the opportunity to attend.

This immersive four-day, three-night problem solving endeavor employs instruction in a variety of STEM fields including biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geography, math and physics. This event also helps FSU expand outreach and engagement with high school STEM coordinators, teachers and administrators across the region and gives Frostburg the chance to showcase the STEM opportunities available at the university.

This year, under the guidance of FSU professors, selected students will design a plan to produce food for their schools using sustainable practices. In teams, they will engage in science instruction that focuses on hands-on experiences and activities. On the final day of the Summit, the teams will present their plans to an audience of parents and family members, university administrators, faculty and staff, judges and invited guests.

The 2025 STEM Summit is funded in part by the Truist Financial Corporation, First United Community Dreams Foundation, the American Chemical Society and the FSU Foundation.
