Multi-Year Grant Renewed for FSU’s TRIO Student Support Services Program

Frostburg State University has been awarded a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education to continue its TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program, securing more than $2 million in funding to support first-generation and low-income students on campus. The new grant cycle renews Sept. 1, 2025, and runs through Aug. 32, 2030, providing an annual budget of $412,173. Funds will be distributed to 275 students who qualify program.
At a time when budgets are tight at the institutional and state level, the federally funded TRIO program emphasizes the significance of continued investment in higher education across Maryland.
FSU’s SSS program that has been in operation for 52 years, offering academic advising, tutoring, financial aid guidance, study skills and time management, development, career counseling, financial literacy and graduate school preparation.
