FSU to Host Resilience Leadership Workshop with GRIT Adventures

The Frostburg Outdoor Recreation Economy Institute (FOREI) at Frostburg State University will present two-time national champion adventure racer and dynamic speaker Jesse Tubb at the Become a GRIT Architect: Generating Resilience, Independence, and Tenacity (GRIT) workshop on Thursday, April 9. Four sessions will be offered at 9:30 a.m.; 11 a.m.; 12:30 p.m.; and 2 p.m. in FSU’s Lane University Center in the Atkinson Room on the second floor.

These interactive workshops are designed to help participants intentionally build the habits, mindsets and support systems that strengthen resilience over time. Using the metaphor of architecture, the GRIT workshop explores how small daily choices shape a strong personal foundation, equipping participants with practical tools to adapt, stay grounded and perform when challenges arise.

The Become a GRIT Architect workshop is ideal for students, faculty, staff and emerging leaders looking to strengthen their ability to navigate change, build mental resilience and lead with intention.  

Tubb is a 28-year U.S. Army veteran and former Section Leader of the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own.” He is the founder of GRIT Adventures, an experiential learning program that builds resilience and leadership through adventure racing. Tubb competed in the 2019 Eco Challenge event, held in Fiji, and is a 2X United States Adventure Racing Association National Champion. A certified coach and master resiliency trainer, Tubb has trained with leading programs in mindfulness and resilience and works with organizations nationwide to strengthen mental fitness and authentic leadership. As both a world-class endurance athlete and an experienced facilitator, he brings a unique blend of grit, mindfulness, and practical tools to help others thrive in both high-stakes and everyday situations.
