Tailored and developed in-house energy models to produce and consume conventional and renewable energy at FSU. Saved an estimated $30,000 in new equipment costs by configuring and customizing existing resources.
AC/DC Power Production Models:
Customized and developed AC generator system integrated with excitation to adjust required AC power delivery at different balanced AC load.
Customized and developed DC generator system integrated with rheostat resistance to adjust armature current to maintain required DC power delivery at different balanced DC load.
AC/DC Power Consumption Models:
Customized three-phase squirrel cage induction motor performance enhancement by integrating required static reactive power compensation.
Customized three-phase wound rotor induction motor performance enhancement by integrating required static reactive power compensation.
Customized synchronous motor performance enhancement by integrating dynamic reactive power compensation.
Enhanced DC motor performance by adjusting rheostat resistance to increase armature current.
Renewable Energy Models:
Customized and developed fuel cell power delivery of 5 watts (in progress).
Customized and developed solar model of 5 watts. This is operational now.
ENES-475 (Power Electronics):
Tailored and developed in-house extensive model by configuring and customizing existing resources, saving an estimated $25,000 in new equipment costs at FSU.
DC to DC Set-Up and Step-Down Converters:
Design and implement buck and boost converters and associated equipment (sizing capacitors, inductors, non-ideal switches and power diodes). This equipment was customized and implemented to size buck and boost converters. Buck converter to step down from 120 DC voltage to 80 DC voltage; boost converter to step up from 120 DC voltage to 200 DC voltage by using existing equipment.

Half- and full-wave rectifier design and implementation.
Bridge rectifier design and implementation.
Three-phase rectifiers design and implementation for renewable energy resources.
DC to AC Converters:
Half- and full-wave inverters design and implementation.
Three-phase inverters design and implementation for renewable energy resources.
ENME-351 (instrumentation and circuit):
Tailored and developed in-house instrument control circuit models to produce and consume conventional and renewable energy at FSU. Saved an estimated $20,000 in new equipment costs by using existing resources.
