Why do you love FSU?

It feels like home. The environment is one where faculty and staff show true care and concern for the students. The campus is nestled in a beautiful setting. And it’s small enough where you know lots of other students, but don’t know everyone.

What do you do for fun?

I am lucky to follow my daughter around the travel soccer circuit and attend the many events my students participate in at Briar Woods.

Tell us about a class or activity at FSU that has had a surprising effect on your life.

Hands down, Speech 101 and Creative Dramatics. Being a shy individual when I stepped on the FSU campus, these two classes taught me the skills I needed to be successful in my educational career and in life.

Favorite movie/musical?

Favorite movie: The Green Mile.
Favorite Musical: The Sound of Music.

What is your favorite memory of your time as a Frostburg student?

My favorite memory is playing into the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III basketball tournament and sharing that experience with my teammates, the Crawleys and my family.

What is a cause dear to your heart?

Equity.

Tell us about a person or persons from FSU who had an impact on your life.

Mr. and Mrs. (James and Nancy) Crawley, who were my Frostburg Mom, Dad and mentors. Wray Blair, who helped sell me on Frostburg. Bernie Wynder, who provided me with diverse experiences and perspectives.

Movie theater popcorn.

Favorite vacation spot?

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Research scientist, physical therapist or athletic trainer.
