Why do you give back?
I believe that FSU is such an instrumental part of the community of Frostburg. I try to take every opportunity that I can to contribute to the success of FSU and the surrounding community as a whole. Frostburg is my home and will probably always be my home, so I think it’s important to give back to your community.
Tell us about a class or activity at FSU that has had a surprising effect on your life.
My senior year, I was a part of an organization called the “Student Pride” organization (now named Student Business Leadership Committee). This was a group of students that fundraised for scholarships to give to other students. A professor organized a dinner between local M&T Bank employees who graduated from FSU and members of the Student Pride organization. At that meeting, I was able to connect with a Regional Manager for M&T Bank. After that connection, I was hired by M&T and began my banking career. I love telling this story because it is a perfect example of the power of connections you can make while at FSU.
What is a cause dear to your heart?
I’m on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity. I love this organization and their mission to provide affordable, quality housing to our community.
