Students Navigating Pregnancy or Parenting
Frostburg State University is committed to ensuring that students who are pregnant, who are experiencing pregnancy-related conditions, or who provide care to or custody over a child receive equal access to education, resources and support.
Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 prohibits sex-based discrimination, which includes discrimination based on pregnancy, pregnancy-related conditions, or who provide care to or custody over a child. Maryland Code Ann., Educ. Art. §15-140 similarly prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender in any State institution of higher learning.

Support of Students Navigating Pregnancy and/or Parenting Related Conditions

- Contact the Title VI/Title IX/ADA/EEO Director.
- Meet with the Director to discuss and review resources and accommodation processes.
- Accommodations are established with the assistance of assigned faculty and/or the Office of Student Accessibility Services and then shared with appropriate University personnel.
Support for Pregnant or Parenting Student Athletes
The Title VI/Title IX/ADA/EEO Director and the sport-specific Associate Director for Athletics will work to coordinate support for student athletes navigating pregnancy and/or parenting-related needs. It is important to note that the student athlete is the primary decision-maker regarding participation, when medically safe.
Supports include but are not limited to:
- Temporary modifications similar to those provided for other temporary medical conditions.
- Supportive environment free from stereotypes and pressure.
- Information regarding NCAA supports and options.
