EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING (ELO)

  • FSU Honors students may use advanced experiences (internships, study abroad, research, student teaching, student working, etc.) for upper‑level Honors credit; each student may complete up to 2 ELOs.
  • Before you begin, contact the Honors Program and a mentor to start the proposal; submit the proposal form via email or in person.
  • After the experience, write a 3–5 page, double‑spaced reflection discussing the experience and its scholarly benefits.
  • Submit your essay and completion form to the Honors Program via email or in person. Questions/submissions: honorsprog@frostburg.edu

ENHANCEMENTS

  • FSU Honors students may “enhance” up to 2 standard courses for Honors credit (often an additional paper/project as agreed with the instructor).
  • Process: During the first weeks, ask the instructor; agree on the added assignment; submit a signed proposal form via email or in person. At term’s end, submit the signed completion form.
  • Questions/submissions: honorsprog@frostburg.edu
  • Level coverage rules:
    • 100–299 level: Covers an Honors variant course.
    • 300–499 level: Covers an Honors upper‑level course.
    • Any English course: May cover the Honors English course.
