David C. Mahoney is a senior executive with twenty-five years of successful marketing, sales, finance, technology, operations, merchandising, and strategic planning experience in a variety of entities, from Fortune 500 to small cap companies. He has a proven track record of helping businesses grow quickly and profitably in both large, established firms and entrepreneurial start-up companies.
After graduating from FSU as valedictorian in 1981 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and a minor in Economics, Dave started his career with McCormick & Company in production management. He ended his tenure with McCormick in 1986 as a Production Manager of the Consumer Products Division's largest eastern plant with 205 employees and five direct reports.
In 1986, Dave moved to Boston to attend Harvard Business School. After completing his MBA, he took a position with Bain & Company, Inc. as a senior consultant, where he stayed until 1991. Bain specializes in improving the strategy and results of Fortune 500 clients.
Phillips Publishing, Inc. in Potomac, Maryland was the beneficiary of Dave's expertise from 1991-1997. For his first four years at this company, he was the VP of Operations and led 130 people in four departments working on list marketing and operations of the company's largest subsidiary during a period of rapid growth, from $20 million to $110 million in sales. In 1995, he was promoted to Senior VP of Phillips Publishing's subsidiary, Eagle Publishing, to lead marketing and operations functions. While at Eagle, Dave helped this fast-growing division develop its book club, newsletter, and newspaper publishing products, and turn its first profits.
Taking advantage of his French language skills, Dave moved to French Inspirations Catalog in Hunt Valley, Maryland as President and COO from 1997-2004. The company was a successful start-up focused on selling French gifts, furnishings, apparel, food, and home accessories via Internet/catalog-only sales - the largest company of its type in the U.S. with catalogs mailed to 4.3 million households.
More recently, Dave has been serving as Executive VP for privately-held Jordan Kitt's Music in College Park, Maryland. Jordan Kitt's is the largest piano and keyboard dealer in the U.S. Dave directly oversees the education and rental sales, marketing, merchandising, finance, accounting, technology, credit, operations, distribution, merger/acquisition, legal, banking, and real estate functions.
A firm believer in social responsibility, he has served as board member for Opus Chicago Partners, LLC, and Junior Achievement of Washington, D.C. He is active in his community as an assistant lacrosse coach for the Carroll Manor Recreation Council, and a French language translator and fundraiser for his church's Haiti Committee.
In 1995, Dave married Rosemarie Lynn Graves. They have two young daughters, and they live in the Baltimore suburbs.
