In March, the FSU Accounting Association hosted a recruiting event with a representative from CohnReznick LLP, one of the leading advisory, assurance, and tax firms in the United States. As of 2021, the firm ranked fifth in the Top 10 accounting firms nationwide. Nearly 50 students attended the event.
Also in March, Accounting Department Chair, Dr. Chelsea Schrader, visited her alma mater, the Southern High School in Garrett County, MD on a recruiting trip to visit with students interested in Business and Accounting and share the array of programs at the Frostburg State College of Business available to them.
Subsequently, in April, Dr. Kiersten Bradley undertook a similar recruiting trip to Northern High School in Garrett County and we are very optimistic that these visits will be productive and materialize in the form of new students in the Business and Accounting programs in the near future!
Finally, The Department of Accounting built an experiential learning opportunity into the ACCT 305 Accounting Systems course in which students can become externally certified in QuickBooks. At the end of the Spring 2022 semester, fifteen out of the 21 students passed the test!
