MKTG 363 Students Participate in Competition

To support FSU’s new Innovation Park, students in the MKTG 363 Advertising class, under the guidance and instruction of Dr. Lilly Ye, participated in a competition as a part of a class project. Students were required to create some type of outdoor advertising, such as a billboard or sign, to promote the innovative nature of the industrial park, and bring awareness to the new economic development initiative at Frostburg. After generating ideas and writing a creative brief, students submitted their final design work for selection by Mr. Al Delia, Vice President for Regional Development and Engagement, with seven independent judges evaluating the work and selecting the final winners.

The winning roster is as follows: 

  • Taylor Byrd, First Prize
  • Lexi Gaumer, Second Prize
  • Luke McCullough, Third Prize

Mr. Delia was pleased with the students’ work and said, “I think the students did a great job and I hope this will help them in their future work.”

The advertising competition highlights the emphasis placed by the College of Business on the power of experiential learning.  Students were happy to apply what they learned in the classroom and support the University and the surrounding community in the process.
