The F2T2 STEAM Camp was held on Frostburg’s campus June 19-21 under the direction of Dr. Sarah O’Neal and with the help of two former students, Ellie Bolton and Kameron Brooks. Middle school students from Allegany County Public Schools were invited to attend the three-day camp filled with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) related activities. Some of these activities included building and painting with LEGO pendulums, DIY stethoscopes, making harmonicas, designing Newton’s cradles, and more!

Dr. O’Neal collaborated with other departments to bring the campers a variety of experiences. Students were able to engage with Ecobricking (ECO) Bricking materials with the geography department; look at skeleton models and create their own Electrocardiogram’s (ECG’s) with the Health Science department; and make their own video with the Mass Communication department! In addition to these amazing activities, the students also visited the animal Exploratorium with Dr. Bill Seddon.

Each day students also participated in health and wellness activities with Dr. Nicole Bosley and Dr. Rebecca Gallagher. They had students jumping on pogo sticks, testing their balance, completing orienteering challenges, and other games to push their physical fitness limits!

Campers loved the dining hall experience and many noted that they hoped to one day be an FSU Bobcat.

The camp was made possible through Opportunity Grant funding.
