On April 13, Gov. Wes Moore, along with state and local leaders, visited FSU for the dedication and ribbon cutting for the new Education and Health Sciences Center on FSU’s campus.

EHSC houses the FSU College of Education and Health and Natural Sciences, along with the disciplines of Kinesiology, Education, Nursing and the Health Sciences. Teaching labs for science, math, technology, health sciences and nursing are located within the new building, including nursing simulation labs. The building is also home to the Student Health Center and Student Counseling Center, which provide FSU students with modern healthcare services in a first-class wellness center, and the Children’s Literature Centre.

Others in attendance for the dedication included Sen. Mike McKay; Del. Jason Buckel; Del. Jim Hinebaugh; former Sen. George Edwards; David Caporale and William Atkinson, Allegany County commissioners; Paul Edwards, Garrett County commissioner; Robert Flanigan, mayor of Frostburg; Ray Morris, mayor of Cumberland; and Nina Forsythe, member of the Frostburg City Council.

EHSC, which cost approximately $82 million, opened in the spring of 2023. The building opening was delayed due to supply chain issues related to the COVID pandemic.
