Girl Scout Troop Visits the CLC
Mar 8, 2024 2:17 PM
On March 7, 2024, the CLC hosted a local Girl Scout troop for the evening to read and complete activities!
The Girl Scouts have a motto: “Girls lead with courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place.” So, with the help of Dr. O’Neal, the CLC director, and Ellie Bolton, AmeriCorps member serving through the CLC, the Girl Scouts were read “The Bold Brave Bunny” by Beth Ferry which focuses on one of 3 “C’s” of Girl Scouts, courage!
After reading the book “The Bold Brave Bunny” by Beth Ferry, they then made courage tokens with character word traits such as honest, caring, kind, brave, and loving. They came up with a word then stamped it into their clay and took them home to bake them.
In the story the bunny sees trees in the shape of animals, so the girls had to partner up and draw an animal that was not in the story and their partner had to guess what they drew. The girls came up with some great animals for their partners to guess such as a mallard duck, an Eagle, a dog, a penguin, and many more!
After completing the story and the activities, all of the girls got to pick out a book to read! Most of them picked out a pop-up book, which is no surprise to us, they are a favorite!!
We would like to thank the Girl Scouts for spending the evening in the CLC and we cannot wait for more groups to come visit! If you are interested in bringing your group for a visit please contact the CLC staff via email at clc@frostburg.edu
