The Biology Department was very productive in 2023-24. Between Biology, Health Sciences and Wildlife & Fisheries, 18 faculty members published articles in refereed journals, chapters in textbooks, and reviewed manuscripts for national publications.
Additionally, Biology, Health Sciences and Wildlife & Fisheries were extremely successful in securing external and internal funding to support student research engagement totaling $1,009,500. These financial grant awards are milestones for the department, students and the college. One example of note is Dr. Cody Kent’s grant funding to expand his research on evolutionary biology and ecology. Congratulations to all involved. The department has accomplished so much this last academic year. Presentations were made at national and international conferences presenting cutting area research in Fish and Wildlife Natural resources, Canadian wildlife and biology management conference, Maryland Natural Resources Forestry Service, the Association of Southeastern Biologists and the American Ornithologic Society.
