The summer of 2023 marked a significant milestone for Frostburg State University with the opening of the new Education and Health Sciences building. The dedication of this building was held and Maryland Governor Wes Moore officially cut the ribbon. This state-of-the-art facility served as a catalyst for true interdisciplinary collaboration among the health, natural sciences, and education departments. By bringing these disciplines together under one roof, we were able to forge new partnerships, maximize the intersection between science, education, nutrition, health, wellness, and mindfulness, and create a more vibrant and interconnected academic community. The opportunity to collaborate with experts, guest speakers and Heads of Federal Agencies from organizations like US Fish and Wildlife, the Chesapeake Conservancy, and the Office of Energy and Science in Washington, D.C., allowed us to engage students, faculty, and community members in meaningful conversations about the future of education and research. "This interdisciplinary approach has undoubtedly made the past year a banner one for the college, and I am excited to continue shepherding these new opportunities and collaborations as Dean," said Dr. Boyce Williams.
