It was a busy week in the Robo Steam Lab:
On Monday, May 13, 2024 Dr. Rankin teamed with 27 of our education students to design and host a Family STEM night in partnership with Beall Elementary, a Title I school. They served 17 families who participated in activities designed to involve parents AND students in STEAM activities and math games.

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024 38 education students facilitated 3 sessions of Curious George STEM with 76 4th and 5th graders from John Humbird Elementary. Faculty modeled and co-taught the first session and students facilitated student groups and during the second and third rotation, students took lead roles and teamed with each other to facilitate the challenge. An added bonus for us was that the teachers on the field trip were alumni of the education program. During the activities, the teachers interacted with our students in a mentoring role and talked to them about their time in the program as well.
That evening, there was a celebration of robots, as the first robotics class tested the robots and code that they worked on all semester. Each team surpassed their goals and had a friendly competition on the robot game tables.
Thursday, May 16, 2024 the Robo Team Lab hosted "Domino Day" with students, and they dressed as dominoes and performed math problems as fractions. Luckily, we have some members of the Acro team who can flip a fraction into a reciprocal by doing a handstand.
A great time was had by all.
