MSDE Identifies Five “Teachers of Promise”

The Maryland State Department of Education’s Teachers of Promise (TOP) Program is a statewide initiative that pairs outstanding pre-service teacher candidates with award-winning, veteran educators to support their transition into the teaching profession. In 2025, the program brought together teachereducation graduates from colleges and universities across Maryland for the annual Teachers of Promise Institute on May 2, where they received mentorship, professional development, and guidance from more than 40 accomplished educators. Participants — selected for their academic excellence, leadership, and strong performance in student teaching — benefited from networking, classroom insights, and career preparation designed to strengthen teacher readiness and retention in Maryland’s public schools. In May 2025, the selected candidates were:
